This is not another comic book issue of Archie Comics but it's a compilation of covers for the landmark Archie #600 issue. I enjoyed checking out other artists' cover for the said issue and buying this copy will be a big help for the medical needs of the retired comic creators.

7 Athlètes (Conquistador)

35279983AUTHOR: Kris Galic, Bertrand Galic
ILLUSTRATOR: David Morancho
PUBLISHER: Delcourt
PUBLICATION DATE: May 7, 2017
PAGES: 66
SYNOPSIS FROM GOODREADS:

Barcelona, July 1936. To counter the Berlin Olympics and the planned Nazi propaganda, athletes from around the world are investing in the Catalan capital and organizing their own ceremony. But, on the eve of the inauguration, Franco seizes power. The Spanish War begins ... Among the athletes trapped, seven men and women choose weapons. Of diverse origins but of common ideals, they will unite with life, with death ... and with love too.

MY RATING:5stars 7 athletes from France should be joining an international competition that was held in Barcelona, Spain. But due to the Germans and fascists invasion that started on late 1930's, these athletes need to fight for their lives and for the lives of other people. I thought that the story would be boring to read but I admit that I was wrong judging this one-shot comics issue. If you are into history or like to read stories related to the WWII, you will like this as well.

But is this a one-off or a sign of bigger changes awaiting for America's favorite teens -- and the entire town? Find out in this exciting and remarkable first issue!

MY RATING:5stars I like how this new version of Archie comics has a different take on the story of Archie, Betty and Veronica. Fans of this comics series are familiar of how Veronica and her family moved to Riverdale when she was still around 10 or below. But in this new version, the story shows that Veronica moved there in her teens.  I like how this new version of Archie comics has a different take on the story of Archie, Betty and Veronica. Fans of this comics series are familiar of how Veronica and her family moved to Riverdale when she was still around 10 or below. This first issue also present that Archie and Betty are already a couple but just broke up recently. Later, there's a buzz that there's new girl in town and looks like Archie is trying to move on by trying to get to know who this girl is.

This version of Archie is like a mature type compared to the funny and light comic version we knew. Fans of Archie, like me, will definitely enjoy the awesome illustrations as well as the story of this. Looking forward on reading the succeeding issues of this new version.

Grumpy Cat/Garfield #2

35822272AUTHOR: Mark Evanier
ILLUSTRATOR: Steve Uy
PUBLISHER: Dynamite Entertainment
PUBLICATION DATE: September 6, 2017
PAGES: 26
SYNOPSIS FROM GOODREADS:

The adventure continues with the two crankiest cats around! Grumpy Cat, the sensational scowling star from the internet, teams up with the legendary newspaper-strip sourpuss Garfield -- and their meeting might just be a match made in heaven – if they don’t drive each other crazy first! Better hope that SOMEBODY brought lasagna!

MY RATING:5stars I ❤ this second issue of the Grumpy Cat/Garfield! Odie and Pokey has finally arrived and they're trying to save these felines from the hands of the evil Pet Mogul company. Hopefully they are not too late because if ever Pet Mogul succeed, there will be Grumpy Cat and Garfield no more.
Anyway, this excerpt from the issue depicts how I will look like when Grumpy Cat and Garfield were altered:

Grumpy Cat/Garfield #1

35822253AUTHOR: Mark Evanier
ILLUSTRATOR: Steve Uy
PUBLISHER: Dynamite Entertainment
PUBLICATION DATE: August 2, 2017
PAGES: 26
SYNOPSIS FROM GOODREADS:

It's the inevitable meeting of the sourpusses! Garfield, the reigning cynical cat of newspapers and TV crosses paths with Grumpy Cat, the internet sensation whose scowl endeared herself to the world. Who's the most sarcastic? Well, he likes lasagna and not much else...and she doesn't even like lasagna. Can these two inhabit the same comic book mini-series, let alone the same planet? You'll find out in a trio of issues written by Mark Evanier and illustrated by Steve Uy. We'd say it's the cat's meow but neither of these cats meows.

MY RATING:4STARSSo Garfield has a real alive version of him in Grumpy Cat's persona. After reading this first installment in this comics series of the collaboration of Grumpy Cat and Garfield, I immediately searched for Grumpy Cat because I'm not familiar with him/her. It's funny how candid the similarities of the fictional character Garfield to a real life Grumpy Cat. I'm looking forward for the release of the succeeding issues in this series.

PUBLICATION DATE: August 2, 2017
PAGES: 26
SYNOPSIS FROM GOODREADS:

The apocalypse has come and gone and all it's left us are zombies, an endless winter and empty hearts. Diaz keeps bringing back survivors, thinking life is hope, but every new face is a hungry mouth and our stores are growing empty. Another hungry mouth like the legion outside.

Waiting for us.

Except, you know, not eating us. The survivors want, like canned beans or French fries.

You get the metaphor, though.

MY RATING: 5stars
The cover of this comics got my attention that's why I bought it right away. I'm not familiar with the crossroads game were this comics series originated from so I cannot compare this to it.

If you like reading zombie theme stories or if you are a dog lover just like me, you will definitely love this 1st issue in this comics series. I'm excited what will happen to Sparky our superhero dog and the pack of humans he's protecting.

Conquering Everest: The Lives of Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay

11300739AUTHOR:  Lewis Hefland
ILLUSTRATOR: Amit Tayal
PUBLISHER: Campfire
PUBLICATION DATE: August 16, 2011
PAGES: 96
SYNOPSIS FROM GOODREADS:

Tenzing Norgay was the son of poor Tibetan immigrants living in Nepal. He longed to see the world but was told he could aspire to be little more than a servant. Edmund Hillary was a humble beekeeper from New Zealand, who spent his youth dreaming of adventures he could never hope to experience.

And Everest was the ultimate adventure. The mountain's peak is the highest point on Earth, stretching beyond the clouds. So dangerous and challenging, Everest had never been successfully climbed and many had died trying. In 1953, Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary joined a team of explorers determined to reach its top.

Alone at the top of the world with their oxygen running low, they faced brutal elements and new dangers at every turn. And they were armed with little more than their courage, determination, and a belief in each other. But would that be enough to achieve the impossible, what no man had done before?

MY RATING: 5stars
I'm not an adventurous neither an athletic person but, I really enjoyed reading the biographies of the first two people who get to reach the peak of Chomolungma or famously known as Mt. Everest. The amazing life story of Edmund and Tenzing is not all fame and glory but they have to endure a lot just to be able to achieve their goal. Quite an inspirational read this comic book is and I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to motivate them to pursue their lifelong dream.
