AUTHOR: Lang Leav
PUBLISHER: Andrews McMeel PublishingPUBLICATION DATE: May 30, 2017PAGES: 362
SYNOPSIS FROM GOODREADS:
“Your first love isn’t the first person you give your heart to—it’s the first one who breaks it.”
Sad Girls is the much-anticipated debut novel from international best-selling author Lang Leav. A beautifully written and emotionally charged coming of age story, where young love, dark secrets, and tragedy collide.

School is almost out for Audrey, but the panic attacks are just beginning. Because Audrey told a lie and now her classmate, Ana, is dead. Just as her world begins to spin out of control, Audrey meets the enigmatic Rad—the boy who could turn it all around. But will their ill-timed romance drive her closer to the edge?

MY RATING:1STAR
Until now, I'm still torn on whether I should be generous to give this a two-star rating; or just settled with my initial rating of one. The first 30-40% of this novel got me hooked while the rest, I can no longer tolerate. Audrey's personality and way of thinking, and the ending are both irksome; include the lengthy storyline and you will have one boring novel.

SERIES: Nineteen, Twenty-One
PUBLISHER: Farrago
PUBLICATION DATE: December 31, 2010
PAGES: 160
SYNOPSIS FROM GOODREADS:

Yun-lee is a girl who is carrying a huge emotional scar in her heart. Due to an accident, she lost 2 precious years of her life, the time period between 19 and 21 years old. Her life is empty. She is miserable, but still attending a preparatory school in an attempt to catch up with all the time she has lost. Suddenly, one day on her way to feed some stray cats, she comes across a young man who seems to have what she has lost... the period between 19 and 21 years old.

MY RATING: 5stars
I'm not into cats but this manwha made me realize that these stray cats, and even stray dogs, are really living in a miserable situation. I like how the two characters, Yun-lee and Dong-hwi, gave their best to provide for these strays even if it takes a lot of time, work and even money. In the process, they both learnt a lot from their journey of feeding and rescuing these stray cats. They also found both a friend and a lover in each other which, I think, is like a gift or their good karma from taking good care of these strays.

Atlantis: The King's Return by D.K. Combs

35896949SYNOPSIS:

Ambrose. The name is not only feared, but shunned and reviled. He’s a monster sentenced to a life of desolation and loneliness, and no one but his tormentor knows his whereabouts — at the bottom of the ocean. A creature of the sea cursed because of one simple mistake…

Mari. Her life was a small happy bubble until it’s popped by the finding out that her boyfriend has been cheating on her — just as the cruise ship she’s on starts to sink! She’s sure that death is near until she drowns upon an underwater cave…and a hulking man with swirling eyes.

Seeing a chance to escape, Ambrose forces the terrified Mari to help them both, but not before ultimately changing her life…and her legs. Their worlds turning upside in the matter of minutes, Ambrose is on a mission to clear his name and Mari’s on a mission to return to land. But how can she do that when she slowly starts to fall for the dangerous, damaged man who only wants to be free…and heal her own heart in the process?

MY RATING: ★★★

The Atlantis: The King's Return starts with a good beginning. Unfortunately there are several aspects that made the story dull in some parts. If others would like Mari and the whirlwind romance between her and Ambrose, then I'm not certainly not one of them.

Another disappointment is the unexpected ending; it ended hastily that will confuse and make readers curious on what happened to some characters, and whether it will be answered on the second book.
