Everybody's Somewhere by Cornelia Maude Spelman

This is a perfect children's storybook to be read or to give as present to kids 7 and below. The illustrations drawn by Alea Marley are adorable, while Cornelia Maude Spelman's awesome story is a perfect match for it. I'm 100% that my young niece and godchildren would definitely love this!

Thank you for the opportunity from the publisher because I was given a chance to see this charming book.

The Heart Is Improvisational: An Anthology in Poetic Form by Lorna Crozier

The Heart is Improvisational is an anthology of poems that tackles anything about one of the vital human organs: the heart. Carol Lipszyc compiled poems from 53 renowned and influential poets such as Charles Bukowski, Eugenio de Andrade, Donald Justice, Erno Szep, and Rita Dove.

There are several poems in this poetry book that are more clinical in aspect, thus some medical terms are hard to understand, especially those who are not in the healthcare field. Although there are verses that cannot easily comprehend, there are other poems in this compendium that addresses romance and familial in context.

Two of the outstanding poems I considered from this book are Donor by Tamar Yoseloff, and Love Poem for Daughter by Marilyn Bowering.

Still Can't Do My Daughter's Hair by William Evans

I was expecting that this book contains poems about a father and daughter relationship, but I think I was misled because of the title. This poetry book by William Evans recounts his experiences growing up as a Black American, thus racism and oppression is the theme of some of the verses. The poems are a mix of different emotions such as strong indignation and hurt, albeit there are a few poems in the end that tell about his love for his family.

Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne

This is definitely one of the best classic science fiction I've read so far. I was amazed that Verne might have started the idea of the submarine and the under the sea explorations. While I was reading this, I was contemplating where he got his ideas or whether silly it might be, he could have time traveled from his time to the future or vice versa.

Archie & Friends by Ken Penders

I had a great time reading this mini-comic issue, where some of Archie Comics' (Publications) famous characters such as Archie and his Riverdale friends; Sabrina, Sonic, Echidna, and Dr. Robotnik are included in the story. Great concept although I'm a little unsatisfied because the story is quite short.

Walt Disney's "The Parent Trap" by Hayley Mills

I remember watching the 2nd version of The Parent Trap shown in the late '90s. I liked the movie and reading this 1961 comic book made me remember the scenes, as well as the time when Lindsay Lohan was still innocent in the said movie.

The Friendly Ghost Casper, #119 by Harvey

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Reading this issue reminds me of the 1995 movie where Devon Sawa played Casper. Who wouldn't forget him in the movie because young girls like me fell in love with him when he appeared in the end. hahaha!

This comic book brings nostalgic memories of my childhood in the '90s especially the movies and the T.V. shows. Thank goodness I was able to get my hands on this classic comics issue because this is indeed for keeps.

The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stewart

It's almost a month since I've started reading this book. Usually, I could finish a thick book like this within a week or just several days. But I got bored in the first part because of the slow pacing of the story. I only got hooked on the story from the half part till the end.

There are at least 4 other books in this series but I'm not sure I will spare time to read them. This first book is like a preview for me if the book a series is good or not and I'm a little disappointed with what I've read here.
